Cherishing my moments- Gary Wilson Photographic

Our hunt for a photographer was quite short to be honest. We met Gary just after we had booked our venue so we had quite a long time to plan the shots we wanted really wanted and having seen the photos, I am elated with them and we do have some amzing memories to cherish

I have been to weddings where the photographer had the potential to ruin the flow of the day by making people wait for hours when all the bride and groom want to do is spend time with their guests. This was my biggest worry about the day!

But I had not worried as Gary and Sarah were amazing at getting everyone in order and keeping everyone entertained in the process of getting the photos done ( with help from our team of Ushers) and we have got loads of amazing shots of the people we love having a great time.

The images from our day can be viewed via the link below

In A Garden One Day Ruby's China Comes Out To Play

We were lucky enough to get the chance to work with the brilliant Chanon De Valois, on updating our photography for our website.

On a very windy day we set up in Chanon's garden to shot some of the pieces that have yet to be featured in our official photography. We had a great team of me, Chanon, Jenni and Q the dog. Q thought it important to inspect all the teacups and cake stands in case of any sign of food, unfortuntately there was nothing to be found.

Of course we found ourselves getting windswept and moved our efforts indoors, setting up our table shots which were equally as stunning.

We featured some of Chanon's wedding photography in an earlier blog and can highly recommend her work. Chanon can be contacted via the below details

Cherish those memories

I had such an overwhelming response from Ruby's photography friends when I issued the call out for advice on how to pick your photographer so I thought it only fitting to showcase some more of our photographer and videographer friends and their useful words of wisdom.

I have increasingly found that you always meet some of the best people through the strangest routes and I encountered Chanon De Valois through my cake maker. For those of you who are not familiar with the story, Mr S and I had a unplanned problem with our cake and we were then looking for a cake maker when we stumbled across the lovely Ann from Cakeabella. Within hours Chanon had contacted me about working together and we have some amazing projects lined up together in the future.

Chanon came forward with some brilliant advice for all of you looking for someone to capture some amazing memories of your big day.

Obviously her big one was make sure you find someone that you as a couple actually like and want to work with as this will show in your pictures and give you an amazing set of pictures of the day.
Alongside this advice it is therefore wise to shop around as different photographers will offer you a range of packages which to be honest baffled me with the variety of range so for a newly engaged couple I can imagine the drama it could cause.

Chanon's final piece of advice was don't ignore the sensible stuff as you don't need the stress in the run up to your wedding with something going wrong! Make sure your photographer is qualified so you don't get a surprise when the photos are not as you expected. It is important that your photographer is insured and not just their equipment in case anything was to go wrong so check out the T&C's

One thing I ruled out of my own wedding was hiring a videographer but this is becoming a common addition to weddings. The day rushes by so fast and it is great to watch it all back when you are not rushing around meeting and greeting all of your guests.

When I put my call out for advice, I met a great videographer by the name of Bridget Beattie from Colbridge Video and she offered her pearls of wisdom on what to look when considering a videographer.

Look through the companies previous work and see whether it meets your expectations about what you would like to see in your video. This is mega important as you want to be able to create something that you will want to share and watch over and over again. Feedback is also very telling, good suppliers will be happy to supply you with the feedback they have received from ore ups customers.

This is why it is always important to shortlist several videographers and meet with them to discuss your ideas and then see who fits best. You will find this in most wedding situation and I found that I have met some amazing wedding suppliers just by hunting about. Don't always assume because they are at the top of a google search, they are the best so dig around and use the wedding suppliers knowledge on who they would recommend.

Remember also what appears like a bargain is not always good. Many videographers like photographers offer different levels of packages so explore all options. Weddings can be expensive but don't be tempted to cut costs and be disappointed if the results are not as expected.

Hopefully we have filled you with enough helpful hints over the two posts so that you ended up with stunning reminders of your big day

Cherish those memories for a lifetime- how to pick the wedding photographer that's right for you

Choosing wedding suppliers can be some what of a challenge but when it comes to picking your wedding photographer who is going to spend the best part of your day with you, where do you start?! I started to ponder this question and consulted my photographer friends at the Essex wedding chat page and from my Twitter (@RubysTeaParty), who have supplied some amazing tips and photographs to help you on your way to finding an fabulous photographer who will meet your needs on your wedding day.

Racheal Pereira from Racheal Pereira Photographer recommends using word of mouth to find your photographer but always to check out their work before you book as one person preference in photography style might be your worst nightmare. I personally preferred the older style wedding albums and I wanted to find someone who was going to be able to cater for this as I had a dislike for the laser print storybooks which I know many couples are favouring as it bring down the cost of the album (all a matter of personally choice)

When I started to look for a wedding photographer, I wanted someone who wasn't going to make us stand around for hours whilst we missed all the fun of our day and I am sure many other brides would feel the same.
Rachael also recommended an engagement shoot as it is a great way to make sure you work well with your photographer before the big day

Tracy Williams from Tracy Williams Photography Studio also recommended a engagement shoot as it allows to you discuss any concerns the bride and groom have about being photographed before the mayhem of the big day. Tracy commented that "So many of my B&G's tell me they do not like having their picture taken and it’s my job to put them at ease and for them to enjoy it so they love the final images", just proves that you are not the only bride and grooms out there who worry about looking their best for the best day!

If you are impatient like me as a bride to be you will want to share those special moments with the people you love as soon as possible after the big day so it is essential you find a photographer who will offer this service. Photographers such as Faith Stone are moving with the times and offering the ability to uploads several images to social network sites such as Facebook

To stop those post wedding blues and relive some of the amazing moments of your day, some photographers such as Faith Stone have the ability to proof your wedding album online which means you and your new husband can pick out the images for your album in the comfort of your home.

I have received some amazing tips from the featured photographers too many to feature in one blog post so I will adding another post in the near future with further tips on picking the right person to take amazing photographs of your big day
